By Great Little People
February 6, 2024

In this post we tell you about different Plans with children during Holy Week, since the holidays are just around the corner. This free time that we spend with the family represents a great opportunity to make fun plans and activities that children @s will not forget! As you well know, Great Little People is specialist in transforming everyday moments into great occasions to learn English in a natural and playful way. For this reason, for these Easter holidays we have prepared several fun activities in English to do with the kids.

1. Cook traditional Easter recipes. We leave you several examples

We have commented in our post about recipes for children, the multiple benefits of turning cooking into a family activity for learning English. The Easter holidays provide us with delicious and easy recipes that we can prepare with our children. Let's see two of the most typical sweets to make at this time of year:

- Hot Cross Bun

This traditional English dessert is perfect to prepare while children are learning English. It's a long but very simple and fun thing to do because it's bread and you have to shape it with your hands. We recommend you visit the BBC recipe blog or watch the video from the same English channel to follow the original recipe to the letter.

- Easter Egg

According to English custom, Easter is the first day you can eat eggs. That is why, in Anglo-Saxon countries, children receive chocolate-colored eggs by the famous Easter Bunny. On the Great Little People YouTube channel, we provide a simple recipe for Easter eggs to make with the little ones.

2. Easter crafts for children

Other Easter activities for children that we can do are crafts. They never fail and they also have several benefits such as fostering creativity, concentration or psychomotor development, among other skills.

- Decorate Easter eggs

To decorate Easter eggs, you don't have to do it with a real one. In craft stores, they sell different sizes of molds that simulate the shape of the egg. However, if you want to use cooking eggs, you must first carefully pierce them on one side and empty them. In this activity we can take advantage of and teach and/ or practice with our children the colors, shapes or vocabulary of approval such as “good”, “beautiful”... For your ornament, we give you four original ideas:

- Easter eggs with nail polish

Give a second chance to those nail polish that you no longer use and create this very special decoration. The children will be amazed!

- Easter eggs with markers

A simple way without many materials is to decorate our Easter eggs with markers, without them being permanent better. We recommend the platform Pinterest to seek inspiration.

Actividades de semana santa para niños

- Easter eggs with stickers

We already know the madness between children and stickers, love at first sight. By introducing stickers to this activity, we encourage creativity by creating an infinite number of designs.

- Easter eggs in the shape of a bunny

By placing the egg horizontally, we can simulate the figure of a small rabbit. Once painted, we put two cotton balls; one for the nose and one for the tail. Next, we place the colored paper ears and glue them to them. Finally, we paint the eyes at the ends. You can also put eye stickers on it.

3. Motor activity: playing egg hunting

Finally, we suggest the most fun Easter activity for children of all; hide the decorated/cooked eggs that we have previously carried out and start a search all over the house or garden. The degree of difficulty will depend on age. If you have children of various ages, try not to let the older ones interfere in the search for the younger ones by setting them different objectives: use different colors or markings so that each one looks for the ones that correspond to them. To make the game more interesting, you can prepare clues in English in the form of a treasure map, drawings, riddles or word games. In addition, each clue may bring with it a challenge that the child must perform in order to know the location of the egg.
